Discord

What is it? Voice and text chat for gaming. It’s free and works on both your desktop and phone.
Why do I need it? Communication. (The new Vent) a Microphone is not required.
How do I get/use it?

Go to: https://discordapp.com/

Click the link that says "Download for Windows" (Note: You can also use this application direct from the browser, but if you have both open it will mute) and follow the installation instructions. Close the browser window, this should eliminate most confusion.

After the application finishes installing it should prompt you to  create a Discord account. It's preferable if your Nickname is the same as your toon name, for easy identification. After you can completed setting up the account, please click on the link below (or copy and paste it into your internet browser) to be automatically added to Midnight Carnival's Voice server.

https://discord.gg/yMSVAVr

Additional Information:

The default set up for Discord is "Open Mic." This means whenever you breath, click, speak, etc. We can hear it. You need to turn that off. Click on the Cog Wheel next to your user name on the bottom left portion of the application window.  User Settings > Voice > Input mode

You need to set it to "Push to talk" and choose a button. You also need to move the "push to talk release delay" to "0ms" otherwise it may not actually function properly when you try to speak (none of us will hear you).

For problems, Please Troubleshoot it yourself.

Deadly Boss Mods

What is it? Enhanced Combat Timers, including Auditory warnings
Why do I need it? Training wheels. You can eventually turn it off.
How do I get/use it?

Go to https://mods.curse.com/addons/wow/deadly-boss-mods

Choose to either Download Now, or Download Vis Curse Client, from the right hand side of the screen.

Additional Information:

There are other addons that are less comprehensive which also do the same thing: GTFO, WeakAuras 2 etc. That you may also use, but having one common addon facilitates changing a combat setting, mid raid, with the most ease, since we can all see the same thing. (You didn't get out of fire, you need help setting up an auditory alert for the fire, I can easily direct you to it, Etc.)

Warcraft Logs

What is it? Combat analysis. UPLOAD. ANALYZE. IMPROVE.
Why do I need it? Find out exactly what went wrong and discover what you need to do to fix it.
How do I get/use it? This application by far required the most prep work, but has the most gain. Please go slow and read instructions carefully to ensure you're setting it up correctly.

Go to: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/

Click the "Sign Up" button, and create an account. Once completed, attach the account to your Battle.net account by following the instructions. This should link you to the guild. If not, go to: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/guilds/join/ and there should be a "join guild" option when you are logged in. The guild code is 148121/YnXDBZf4 or you can click the Auto-Join URL: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/guilds/autojoin/148121/YnXDBZf4

In order to upload to Warcraft Logs, you need to install a client application.

The Warcraft Logs Uploader uses Adobe AIR. You can get Adobe AIR from Adobe's Web Site. Once you have Adobe AIR installed, you can download the client here. Install the Warcraft Logs Uploader

The first step is to get combat logging turned on such that the combat log file is getting written to disk.

To enable combat logging in World of Warcraft, just go to your chat window and type /combatlog. That's all you have to do! Now everything you and the players and enemies around you do will be written to a file called WoWCombatLog.txt. This file can be found in the Logs subdirectory of your WoW installation. When you're all done, you can just exit the game or type /combatlog again to turn logging off.

Getting Started With Warcraft Logs: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/help/start/

Ask Mr. Robot

What is it? Gear logging
Why do I need it? We monitor gear utilization, upgrades, and output. This logs things that Warcraft logs does not, giving us a complete picture.
How do I get/use it?

Go to http://www.askmrrobot.com/ and create an account.

To auto log gear data, get the addon here. No need to do ANYTHING else with the addon, other than have it installed.

ON RAID NIGHT:

You need to start a combat log. You can do this by typing /combatlog in the chat window. OR, open the Warcraft logs uploader Client and "Live log."

After your raid, upload your logs with the desktop application.

You may now delete the combat log for the evening.
